Messy project Monday + Terrific post Tuesday!

Pinspiration has struck again. I combined two different pins (I was feeling a little adventurous!) and had a bit too much fun! The living room is a disaster zone now, but the roomies are gone for a few days so I’m in the clear.

I printed out this template and traced it onto cardboard al la empty cereal box so that i could cut my super adorable elephant!

Isn't he cute!

Next I took out my nifty envelope of magazine scrapes and my Elmer’s glue (gotta stick to the classics) and the fun mess good times began!

The living room floor has never looked so good!

The white icky looking mixture is one part glue and one part water. Squishing it all together was kind of cathartic….

Take What You Need (DORM DECOR)

Sooo. Hello Y’all! Spring break was short and sunny, therefore typical. Getting back into a routine is not easy work, and I think everyone is a bit gloomy. I decided I was going to give people something to smile about (even if its a pity laugh…)!

I saw a ‘Take What You Need” poster at a bus stop on campus today. It was so cute -dingy, plain, and not ‘taylor-like’- but cute! I thought I could give it a ‘taylor’ spin and put some up in my Dorm.

I took a moment to brainstorm about what things people (especially Dorm-dwellers) might need, I looked for appropriate quotes, and created a finished product! On the left is the document I made, and on the right is a super awesome pic of the poster hanging in the hallway.

Let me know what you think!

Part 2: New Apartment Inspirations

Screen Shot 2013-03-02 at 3.42.17 PMI love how clean this one looks. This is the Doctor Who poster I have made, as described in the previous post. I might Alter the Star trek one to match…… decisions decisions!

New apartment Inspirations!

So my roomie and I finally signed leases for next semester. We are the proud occupants of a REAL LIFE APARTMENT! Wooo Hooo! *** Insert no more Dorm life dance** This new apartment is the beginning of so many new and exiting things. Like decorating. Hehe. I should start saving money right now because I spent all day on Pintrest looking for ideas.

I also started to think about what ‘space’ means. Now that I am going to have a space that is all for me I want to make it a place where I feel inspired and creative. Space is what we can manipulate- it is we choose to surround ourselves in and the mood we wish to exist in. So I started to think of my favorite things… Star Trek, Harry Potter, Doctor Who, Dead Presidents (don’t ask), ect; and thought it would be cool if I could make my space reflect these interests.

I started with Star Trek. I picked 10 of my favorite quotes and filled up a page. I had a little too much fun formatting and ended up making a poster.

I really like the way it turned out and I think I will make more for my other interests!

One and Done!

Soooooooo. Hello! My life is a mix of studying, social media surfing, reading, sleeping, and eating (lots of eating). Pintrest has exasperated these parts of my life as well as providing me with a ‘to do’ list that is quite literally endless. Last week I decided I was finally going to do one of the DIY’s I found on pintrest.

I made hair ties.

I know, you’re impressed :).  Recently these amazing elastic hair ties are everywhere. by amazing I mean they are pretty, they are strong, they don’t leave creases in my hair, and most importantly they don’t hurt! But they are crazy expensive, a pack of three cost almost $5!!!! A traditional pack of hair ties can be 20-40 ties for the same cost. So when I saw a pin that took me to a site that sold the material for $0.50 a yard (1 yard make 4 ties), I couldn’t help myself. I bought 5 yards.

The site I used was Sunshine Shoppe, http://www.sunshineshoppesupply.com . They had the best color selection and prices of the six sites I looked at. The material is 5/8 inch stretch fold over elastic and it is fantastic! All you do is fold the yard into fourths, cut, and tie. So easy, Simple, and fabulous. I can’t wait to do it again, I think next time I’ll make some headbands too!

The best way i could find to showcase these hair ties were to put them on the febreeze can. Arn't I crafty? And didn't i just pick the best colors!!
